About The Position

Sandman Montréal Longueuil is looking for an experienced Banquet & Convention Events Manager who is detail-oriented and dedicated to personalizing customer service to join our banquet & convention events team. This role involves serving and managing corporate and association convention groups, both local and international. The manager must have hospitality knowledge to collaborate with all service departments involved in planning and executing event conventions and managing room block reservations, from start to finish, while maintaining impeccable service quality. This position requires rapid adaptation to change and computer systems, good stress management, and strong, methodical communication skills. A charismatic personality, ease in teamwork, problem-solving abilities, and well-developed creativity are assets for the desired candidate.

Requirements

  • Diploma in tourism and/or hospitality or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Passionate, enthusiastic, and committed, demonstrating superior skills in developing and maintaining a high-level network of contacts.
  • Attentive and dedicated to our clientele.
  • Inspiring personality and ease in working in a team.
  • Attention to detail and structured work approach.
  • Perfectly bilingual (French and English, both spoken and written - essential).
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Ability to adapt to a diverse clientele and ensure quality service.
  • Excellent knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software.
  • Professional and neat appearance.
  • Ability to manage time and stress effectively.
  • Demonstrate a high professional sense and possess strong interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility in work schedules and availability.
  • Must have the legal right to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Reading and respecting group contracts according to the Group's needs and expectations.
  • Effectively communicating event and room reservation details to relevant departments.
  • Developing and proposing menus, setups, and audio-visual equipment.
  • Requesting and negotiating quotes from external service providers.
  • Ensuring compliance with the Group's concessions and budget agreements in the Hotel's interest.
  • Organizing and conducting site inspections, pre- and post-convention meetings.
  • Managing convention group reservations and room blocks.
  • Collaborating with operations teams in event execution.
  • Actively fostering client loyalty and ensuring continuity with existing clientele.
  • Possessing strong hotel experience in the convention sector, understanding event trends, and quickly seizing opportunities to enhance the Group's personalized experience.
  • Understanding client needs and expectations, responding promptly while maximizing revenue and visibility opportunities for the Hotel.
  • Entering event service data into reservation systems in accordance with agreements.
  • Developing and maximizing banquet team schedules.
  • Entering schedules into the system.
  • Approving employee hours for payroll.
  • Calculating server tips.
  • Entering tips into the payroll system.
