About The Position

Waterville TG is currently looking for a General Manager – Production and Manufacturing Performance to ensure the manufacturing performance of its Waterville and Coaticook plants. Recognized for your mobilizing leadership and strong on-the-ground presence, you will leverage your expertise in the Toyota Production System (TPS) and your solid multi-site management experience for the benefit of people and performance. Join the Waterville TG team as General Manager – Production and Manufacturing Performance, and come drive operational excellence at our Waterville and Coaticook plants. In close collaboration with the President, members of the executive committee, and the corporate teams of Toyoda Gosei, your role will be to lead all Production and Toyota Production System (TPS) activities. As a key member of governance, you will ensure the achievement of safety, delivery, cost, productivity, and engagement objectives. You will be responsible for directly supervising 4 managers and exercising inspiring functional leadership over approximately 350 employees.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, operations management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience in multi-site operations management.
  • Cutting-edge and recognized expertise in Toyota Production System (TPS) or Lean Manufacturing.
  • Experience in the automotive industry strongly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the production operations of the Waterville and Coaticook plants to ensure safe, efficient execution in line with company objectives.
  • Develop a culture of accountability, operational discipline, and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain a regular presence on the ground to support teams and quickly resolve operational issues.
  • Develop the four managers under your responsibility and actively ensure succession planning for key positions.
  • Ensure the standardization of management practices across different plants.
  • Ensure that production standards are rigorously respected by the Sherbrooke subcontractor.
  • Drive key performance indicators (SPQDC, Health and Safety, OTD/delivery, Productivity, OEE/TRG, transformation costs, absenteeism, and engagement) and performance reviews.
  • Optimize production capacities, resource management, transformation costs, and the flow of manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate closely with the Quality function to maintain the rigorous standards required by customers and Toyoda Gosei.
  • Define TPS priorities and systematically deploy Lean, Kaizen, and problem-solving principles.
  • Strategically lead the overall portfolio of continuous improvement projects.
  • Promote the standardization of work methods and the elimination of waste.
  • Actively collaborate with Engineering on automation and transformation projects.
  • Actively participate in the executive committee and contribute globally to the manufacturing strategic plan.
  • Establish operational priorities and decide on the allocation of production resources for both plants.
  • Ensure effective cross-functional collaboration with other general management departments (Finance, HR and EHS, IT, Engineering) and represent operations with Toyoda Gosei as needed.
