ADULT DAY SERVICES - Direct Support Worker (Term)
About The Position
New Directions is a social service agency that provides resources and services to foster people's hopes and dreams in their communities. The Adult Day Services division requires Direct Support Workers to support individuals with intellectual disabilities in both community settings and facilities. This role involves providing individualized day service supports, collaborating with a team to enhance various skills based on individual needs, and managing situations where individuals may exhibit potentially aggressive behaviors. The position operates Monday to Friday, from 8am to 4pm.
Requirements
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with satisfactory Driver Safety Rating
- Subject to Criminal Record, Child/Adult Abuse Registry, and Prior Contact checks
- Must supply a current Driver's Safety Rating
Nice To Haves
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with people with intellectual disabilities, dual diagnosis, and/or complex support needs
- Valid First Aid Certificate
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention
- American Sign Language
- Related human service certificate
