About The Position

Abraxas Youth and Family Services is seeking a compassionate, dedicated Direct Support Technician for its Southwood Interventions program in Chicago, Illinois. The position supports clients in a substance abuse treatment program and helps them work toward therapeutic goals, safety, and well-being. The role is full-time in Withdrawal Management (Detox).

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and assist individuals as needed.
• Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Nice To Haves

• At least 6 months of training or equivalent knowledge of substance abuse treatment theory and practice.
• Previous work experience with the program-specific population in a residential or outpatient setting.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and observe clients and ensure their safety and well-being in a substance abuse treatment program.
• Provide motivational and educational support and guidance to help clients meet therapeutic goals.
• Schedule and coordinate client transportation and assist with planning recreational events.
• Support treatment plans by reporting client observations and contributing to decisions concerning therapy, discipline, and privileges.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
