About The Position
Out of the Box Solutions is hiring a Direct Support Professional to provide person-centered, one-on-one support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The role supports individuals’ daily routines, community involvement, personal goals, independence, and well-being while treating each person with respect and dignity. For a current client assignment in Gresham (97080), support is needed Monday through Thursday from 3:45 to 6:00 p.m. The client is a 13-year-old girl who enjoys libraries, crafts, and crochet. She is looking for a patient, understanding support person who can build trust over time, share her enthusiasm, accompany her to the library, and possibly help with assignments. The support person must be at least 18 years old. The employer describes the role as meaningful one-on-one work with flexible scheduling and a supportive team. Applicants must meet the listed age, education, experience, transportation, technology, and state employment eligibility requirements. CPR/First Aid/AED certification is required or must be obtained.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 1 year of caregiving or related experience.
- Valid driver’s license, insurance, and reliable transportation.
- Smartphone required.
- Must successfully pass all state-required background checks and meet all ODDS employment eligibility requirements.
- CPR/First Aid/AED certification, or willingness to obtain it.
- Dependability, a positive attitude, flexibility, strong communication skills, and comfort working independently.
Responsibilities
- Support clients with daily routines, including cooking, cleaning, and personal care.
- Help clients access the community and remain engaged in activities.
- Follow care plans and support clients’ goals.
- Communicate with families and team members.
- Complete notes and other documentation.
- Ensure clients’ safety and well-being at all times.
- For the listed client assignment, build rapport patiently, accompany the client to the library, and possibly help with assignments.
