About The Position
Out of the Box Solutions is hiring a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide one-on-one support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The role focuses on helping clients live more independently and fulfill personal goals through respectful, person-centered support with daily routines and community involvement. The listed client assignments are for two 9-year-old girls in ZIP code 97123 who are siblings. Each has a Monday–Friday schedule from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with potential weekend hours if desired. The role may suit two DSPs working at the same time. Support approaches should be tailored to each client, including appropriate communication, prompts, opportunities to decompress, and attention to safety and calm strategies. The employer describes the work as meaningful one-on-one support with a supportive team and flexible scheduling. The position pays $24.00 per hour and includes the listed insurance, time-off, pay, and training offerings.
Requirements
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Have at least 1 year of caregiving or related experience.
- Have a valid driver’s license, insurance, and reliable transportation.
- Have a smartphone.
- Successfully pass all state-required background checks and meet all ODDS employment eligibility requirements.
- Have CPR/First Aid/AED certification or be willing to obtain it.
- Be dependable, maintain a positive attitude and flexible mindset, communicate well, and be comfortable working independently.
Responsibilities
- Support clients with daily routines, including cooking, cleaning, and personal care.
- Help clients access the community and remain engaged.
- Follow care plans and goals.
- Communicate with families and the team.
- Complete notes and documentation.
- Ensure clients’ safety and well-being.
- For the listed clients, use individualized communication and support strategies, monitor safety, provide prompts and allow time for comprehension, and help with calm strategies.
