About The Position

Indera is seeking a Direct Support Professional for a part-time position in Syracuse, NY. The role involves assisting an 80-year-old male client with light exercise and community-based activities. The client has a strong interest in music, including listening, attending concerts, and performing, and has previously taken instrument lessons. He also enjoys swimming, bowling, visiting the NYS Fair, and rollercoasters. The ideal candidate will be creative, engaging, encouraging, comfortable with physical touch, capable of safely guiding the client in the community, and willing to participate in water activities like swimming. Additional hours may be available with other clients.

Requirements

Must have a valid driver's license.
Effective communication and organizational skills required.
Flexibility with assignments and schedule required.
Reliable transportation to arrive at the job site at the scheduled time.
Must have technology available to download multiple apps for use in the community.
Must be comfortable with physical touch.
Must be able to guide someone safely in the community.
Must be willing to go in the pool/hot tub.

Experience working with people with Developmental Disabilities preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist client with light exercise.
Help client find and participate in new community activities.
Support client's interest in music, including attending concerts and exploring instrument lessons.
