About The Position

Venture Community Services supports individuals facing diverse challenges through a compassionate and dedicated workforce, using innovative practices that encourage independence, empowerment, and opportunity. The Direct Support Professional (DSP) advocates for and supports adults aged 22 and over with intellectual and developmental disabilities, empowering them to be as active in their lives as possible. This support includes assistance with household maintenance, meal preparation, shopping, personal care (bathing, toileting, dressing, teeth brushing), medical appointments, banking, community integration, and outings. DSPs are also responsible for administering medications, following Behavior Support Plans, Individual Support Plans, goals, and medical guidelines. Venture provides paid New Employee Orientation, CPR/First Aid, PABC, Defensive Driving, and Medication Administration Program (MAP) training, as well as program and person-specific training at the individuals’ homes. DSPs must be able to safely evacuate individuals in emergencies and maintain all required certifications, complying with Agency policies and DDS regulations.

Requirements

  • Must be 21+
  • Reliable transportation
  • Valid driver’s license
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Commitment to assisting people with varying disabilities to participate fully in their community and in their own lives
  • Varied interests and personal connections in the local community
  • Proven record of conscientious, responsible behavior (work, volunteer or school history)
  • Ability to work as a creative, engaged, dedicated member of the team
  • Possess the knowledge, skills and abilities listed and demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the job
  • Ability to speak, read, and write in fluent English
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the program and individuals supported
  • Willingness to work holidays, overnights, or double-shifts
