The Direct Support Professional (DSP) advocates for and supports adults aged 22 and over with intellectual and developmental disabilities, empowering them to be as active in their lives as possible. This support includes assistance with household maintenance, meal preparation, shopping, personal care (bathing, toileting, dressing, teeth brushing), medical appointments, banking, community integration, and outings. DSPs are also responsible for administering medications, following Behavior Support Plans, Individual Support Plans, goals, and medical guidelines. Venture provides paid New Employee Orientation, CPR/First Aid, PABC, Defensive Driving, and Medication Administration Program (MAP) training, as well as program and person-specific training at the individuals’ homes. DSPs must be able to safely evacuate individuals in emergencies and maintain all required certifications, complying with Agency policies and DDS regulations.
