Direct Support Professional / Youth Caregiver
About The Position
Dungarvin is hiring Direct Support Professionals to support children and teens ages 12–21 with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a residential program. The role is for a patient, creative, and dedicated mentor, coach, and role model who helps young people build skills, confidence, and independence and participate in school, home, and community routines. Employees help individuals discover their strengths and celebrate their progress while providing person-centered support in a safe, positive, and supportive environment. The schedule is Thursday from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., Friday from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m., and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. An additional shift may be available each week. The listed wage is $20.80 per hour.
Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Must have a high school diploma, transcript, or GED.
- Must have at least six months of professional work experience supporting vulnerable populations, such as caregiver, nanny, paraeducator, or direct support professional experience.
- Must be able to pass DCYF background and fingerprint checks.
- Must have a valid Washington driver's license.
- Must have reading, writing, and communication skills to document care, follow support plans, and collaborate with team members.
Responsibilities
- Lead person-centered activities that help youth learn everyday life skills, build confidence and independence, participate in routines, and discover their strengths.
- Teach and role-model life skills to promote independence.
- Provide supervision, coaching, and encouragement.
- Assist with routines such as meal preparation, personal care, and medication administration.
- Perform housekeeping and laundry duties.
- Create a safe, positive, and supportive environment.
- Document care, follow support plans, and collaborate with internal and external team members.
