About The Position

Dungarvin is seeking a Direct Support Professional to provide direct support, hands-on instruction, assistance, and positive direction to youth ages 12–21 with intellectual/developmental disabilities. The role supports young people’s health and safety, progress toward service objectives, and personal goals while encouraging independence and self-care. The position also involves helping maintain a safe, healthy, collaborative environment.

Requirements

• At least 6 months of professional work experience supporting vulnerable populations, such as caregiver, nanny, paraeducator, or direct support professional experience.
• Must be at least 21 years old, per Washington state licensing requirements.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Reading, writing, and communication skills to document care, follow support plans, and collaborate with internal and external team members.

Responsibilities

• Enrich and support residents’ lives while maintaining a safe and healthy environment.
• Provide companionship and personalized care while encouraging independence and self-care.
• Assist with activities of daily living, including dressing, bathing, grooming, toileting, and eating.
• Prepare meals and snacks.
• Perform light housekeeping and laundry duties.
• Provide mobility and transfer assistance, which may include using mechanical lift devices.
• Implement positive behavior supports and de-escalate challenging behaviors when needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
