Direct Support Professional Part Time Lewis Center
About The Position
First Step Healthcare is hiring a part-time Direct Support Professional to provide in-home support for one individual in Lewis Center, Ohio. The role is approximately 16 hours per week, with evening shifts Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM, plus a four-hour Saturday shift starting any time after 4:00 PM. Pay starts at $17.25 per hour and increases to $17.50 per hour after successful completion of a 90-day introductory period. The Direct Support Professional provides personal care and help with daily living, supports health and wellness under nursing guidance, assists with household tasks and community activities, and documents services, progress, and changes in condition. First Step Healthcare provides compassionate support services for individuals with developmental disabilities in central Ohio, aiming to create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment where individuals are respected, valued, and encouraged to live healthier, fuller lives.
Requirements
- Demonstrate patience, compassion, and a calm, consistent approach with the individual supported.
- Have current CPR certification.
- Have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Be able to lift up to 35 pounds independently and assist with repositioning using proper technique or adaptive equipment.
- Complete the state-mandated 8-hour annual training and re-certification.
Responsibilities
- Provide personal care, including assistance with mobility and hygiene.
- Help with meals, light housekeeping, laundry, and errands.
- Support medication and health monitoring under nursing guidance.
- Drive the individual to appointments and community outings.
- Document daily progress, services provided, and changes in condition.
- Complete weekly reporting on goals and overall health.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
