About The Position

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) encourages personal growth through goal-based support and provides daily living support to KIM clients in their homes and in the community. DSPs motivate and encourage clients toward their goals while following the Residential Service Guidelines. Full-time and part-time schedules are available; the shift is to be determined. Pay is $17.50–$20.00 per hour.

Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent.
Minimum age of 18 years.
Criminal background check must be cleared before working alone unsupervised with clients.
Valid driver’s license or State ID.
Ability to follow instructions, organize, and set priorities.
Strong communication skills, including active listening, writing, speaking, and reading comprehension.
Ability to engage in critical thinking.

Nice To Haves

Intermediate experience supporting living, preferably with adults with developmental or other disabilities.

Responsibilities

Help clients use emotional and behavioral regulation techniques outlined in their individual plans.
Help clients achieve personal and program goals and evaluate goal completion and denials.
Assist with client money management, including petty cash, receipts, checkbooks, and EBT cards.
Assist clients with daily hygiene and personal care according to individual care plans, including brushing teeth, bathing, hair washing, and toileting.
Administer the correct medications and document the activity, including nurse-delegated tasks.
Transport clients to and from activities and appointments, or arrange transportation services as appropriate.
Complete daily, weekly, and monthly forms, reports, and data sheets.
Supervise clients’ daily activities and living conditions to help ensure their health and safety.
Assist clients with cooking and eating meals and with grocery shopping.
