About The Position
MARC, Inc. of Manchester is seeking a part-time Direct Support Professional for its Senior Center department in Manchester, Connecticut. The role supports retirees in participating in integrated, dignified, and respectful social activities and ensures services follow the agency’s mission and philosophy, as well as applicable state and federal laws, policies, and regulations. The position is onsite and includes transporting retirees to and from the Senior Center.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to obtain a Connecticut driver's license, vehicle registration, and vehicle insurance; driving is required.
- Knowledge of proactive thinking and positive supports.
- Ability to lift and transfer up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift nonambulatory people.
Responsibilities
- Implement Senior Center services, including daily community activities and center-based activity options.
- Participate in activities in accordance with senior preferences.
- Prepare reports and complete documentation required by the agency and the State Department of Developmental Services.
- Maintain accurate emergency fact sheet information and case record files for retirees.
- Attend staff meetings, scheduled in-services, and specified retiree meetings.
- Transport retirees to and from the Senior Center in an agency vehicle or personal car.
- Assist with routine maintenance of the Senior Center van.
- Provide appropriate support for daily toileting routines and activities of daily living.
- Assist with the agency Service Evaluation System.
- Write for the agency’s monthly newsletter.
- Creatively plan and implement appropriate activities for seniors.
