About The Position

Dungarvin is hiring a Direct Support Professional (DSP) caregiver for weekend work. The role provides direct support, positive direction, instruction, and assistance to individuals with mental, intellectual and developmental, and physical disabilities. The goal is to empower people to live as independently and comfortably as possible while maintaining their dignity and respect.

The DSP provides hands-on assistance, encouragement, mentoring, and guidance, and helps ensure the comfort, safety, and personal growth of the people served. Duties include assisting with daily living activities and performing housekeeping and laundry tasks. Dungarvin is a mission-driven organization that has provided person-centered support since 1976, with a focus on helping people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and complex medical needs live as independently as possible.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Valid driver’s license required because the role involves transporting persons served.
• Must be comfortable driving to transport persons served as required.
• Some positions or locations may require a personal vehicle and auto liability insurance.
• Person-centered, patient, and kind.
• Dependable, adaptable, and flexible.
• Observant and detail-oriented.
• Positive role model and able to work on a team.
• Committed to creating a respectful and collaborative environment.
• Computer skills for documentation.
• Reading, writing, and communication skills to document care, follow support plans, and collaborate with team members.
• Successful background clearance required as part of onboarding or employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support, positive direction, instruction, and assistance to individuals with disabilities.
• Provide hands-on assistance, encouragement, mentoring, and guidance.
• Support the comfort, safety, and personal growth of the individuals served.
• Assist with daily living tasks, including mobility, getting in and out of bed, dressing, bathing, toileting, and personal hygiene.
• Perform housekeeping and laundry duties.
• Transport persons served as required.
• Document care, follow support plans, and collaborate with internal and external team members.
