About The Position

Out of the Box Solutions is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) in NW Portland to provide one-on-one, person-centered support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The role supports individuals in living more independent and fulfilling lives by assisting with daily routines, community involvement, and personal goals in a respectful, engaging, and empowering manner.

The position includes support for four clients in ZIP code 97229, with schedules ranging from early mornings and weekday afternoons to evenings and weekends. Client needs and interests include personal care, meals, toileting, hygiene, daily living skills, household routines, social activities, and community outings. Some clients benefit from visual schedules, advance notice of transitions, consistency, and encouragement.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years old.
• Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Have at least one year of caregiving or related experience.
• Have a valid driver's license, insurance, and reliable transportation.
• Have a smartphone.
• Successfully pass all state-required background checks and meet all ODDS employment eligibility requirements.
• Have CPR/First Aid/AED certification or be willing to obtain it.
• Be dependable and show up reliably.
• Have a positive attitude and flexible mindset.
• Have strong communication skills.
• Be comfortable working independently.

Responsibilities

• Support clients with daily routines, including cooking, cleaning, and personal care.
• Help clients participate in community activities and remain engaged.
• Follow care plans and support clients' goals.
• Communicate with families and team members.
• Complete notes and other documentation.
• Ensure clients' safety and well-being.
• Support clients with meals, toileting, hygiene, dressing, household chores, and daily living skills as applicable.
• Help clients build independence and provide advance notice of transitions where needed.
