About The Position
Out of the Box Solutions is hiring a person-centered Direct Support Professional to work one-on-one with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (ID/DD). The role supports clients’ independence and personal goals through daily routines, community involvement, and respectful, empowering assistance. Duties include helping with cooking, cleaning, personal care, meals, toileting, hygiene, household tasks, and daily living skills; supporting community outings and engagement; following care plans and goals; communicating with families and the team; completing notes and documentation; and ensuring client safety and well-being. Client schedules and support needs vary, with shifts described for clients in the 97229 area, including morning, afternoon, evening, and weekend availability.
Requirements
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Have at least 1 year of caregiving or related experience.
- Have a valid driver’s license, insurance, and reliable transportation.
- Have a smartphone.
- Successfully pass all state-required background checks and meet all ODDS employment eligibility requirements.
- Have CPR/First Aid/AED certification or be willing to obtain it.
- Be dependable and reliable.
- Have a positive attitude and flexible mindset.
- Have strong communication skills.
- Be comfortable working independently.
Responsibilities
- Support clients with daily routines, including cooking, cleaning, and personal care.
- Assist clients with meals, toileting, hygiene, household chores, and daily living skills as needed.
- Encourage client independence in daily activities and routines.
- Help clients participate in community outings and remain engaged.
- Follow care plans and goals.
- Communicate with families and the team.
- Complete notes and documentation.
- Ensure clients’ safety and well-being at all times.
- Provide advance notice about transitions and support clients according to their communication and routine preferences.
