About The Position

Direct Support Professionals provide support and guidance to people served as they learn and develop daily living skills and participate in life activities, with the goal of helping them live as independently as possible. The role includes supporting personal goals, monitoring comfort and safety, ensuring medical, nutritional, and personal care needs are met, and offering emotional support. DSPs also assist with housekeeping, meal preparation, and laundry.

Requirements

• Desire to make a positive difference in people's lives.
• Must be at least 19 years of age.
• Valid U.S. driver's license required, where applicable.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong time-management skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and communicate timelines, challenges, and questions honestly.
• Work requires frequent standing, walking, and bending; occasional sitting, kneeling, climbing, stooping, crouching, squatting, and balancing; constant reaching between knee and shoulder level; and frequent reaching below knee level and overhead.
• Work requires occasional independent lifting up to 25 pounds, frequent pushing or pulling up to 40 pounds of force, and the ability to safely transfer 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assist people served in developing daily living skills and participating in life activities by creating an environment where they can learn, grow, and discover.
• Help people identify and achieve the goals most important to them.
• Monitor the comfort and safety of people served and ensure their medical, nutritional, and personal care needs are met.
• Provide emotional support.
• Assist with general housekeeping, meal preparation, and laundry duties.
