About The Position

Services for the UnderServed (S:US) is hiring a Direct Support Professional to support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a safe environment and help them live their best lives. The Day Habilitation Specialist provides skill development through a combination of community and classroom learning experiences.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least one year of experience providing direct care services to adults with a developmental disability.
• AMAP certified.
• SCIP-R trained.
• CPR and First Aid trained.

Nice To Haves

• Associate degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist each individual in developing skills related to independent living, adaptive behaviors, socialization, recreation, and activities of daily living.
• Supervise individuals in the community, using experiences to reinforce skills taught in group sessions while ensuring their safety.
• Lead group sessions and facilitate discussions that teach skills individuals can use in their communities.
• Provide annual and semi-annual progress reports regarding valued outcomes.
• Assess the needs of lower-functioning and/or non-verbal individuals through observation and evaluation, and develop and address their valued outcomes.
• Provide input on and ensure compliance with valued outcomes in the ISP and Day Habilitation Plan.
• Document weekly the outcomes being worked toward with each individual in accordance with their Day Habilitation Plan.
