About The Position

Verland is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide individualized care and ongoing support to people with complex physical, medical, and intellectual challenges who live in the community. The position is hourly and non-exempt, based at Pine House in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania. The full-time schedule is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Experience is not required. Verland provides two weeks of paid training, which must be completed at the start of employment. Training covers daily living skills, social engagement, personal hygiene, and each individual’s support plan and personal development goals.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Reliable means of transportation.
• Ability to lift and transfer without restrictions.
• Must pass background, physical, and drug screenings.
• Complete the required two weeks of paid training at the start of employment.

Responsibilities

• Enrich and support residents’ lives while maintaining a safe and healthy environment.
• Encourage skill development through active treatment activities.
• Implement individualized programs and record observations and daily progress notes.
• Participate in planning social, home, and recreational activities.
• Assist with meals and perform cleaning and laundry duties in the house.
• Transport clients to appointments and activities in Verland vehicles.
• Bathe, dress, and assist clients with personal hygiene.
• Perform housekeeping duties as needed.
• Administer medication.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
