About The Position

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) supports and cares for individuals living in Skill Creations, Inc. residential facilities. Individuals may need physical or medical care, behavioral support, cognitive support, and assistance with independent living. Care is provided according to each person’s specific needs and includes assistance and education with personal care, medication administration, and independent living skills. DSPs also transport or accompany individuals to community activities and local or out-of-town appointments. Positions are available across first, second, and third shifts, including full-time, part-time, temporary, and backup/PRN schedules. Full-time employees are defined as scheduled for 30 or more hours per week. Hourly pay for residential full- and part-time DSP positions begins at $17.60; backup and PRN positions pay $17.00 per hour.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED from an accredited school.
Criminal record check.
Prompt and regular attendance for the assigned work schedule.
A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
Complete required coursework for CPR/First Aid and Behavior Management.
Basic computer skills for email, electronic training modules, and recording data.
Ability to lift 50 pounds.
Ability to balance, bend, stoop, and kneel occasionally.
Ability to be on one’s feet most of the time.
Ability to work during inclement weather and some holidays.

Responsibilities

Provide support and care to individuals in residential facilities according to their specific needs.
Assist and educate individuals with personal care, medication administration, and independent living skills.
Provide support related to physical or medical care, behavioral needs, and cognitive needs.
Transport or accompany individuals to community activities and local or out-of-town appointments.
Record data and use email and electronic training modules.
