About The Position

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) supports and cares for individuals living in Skill Creations, Inc. residential facilities. Individuals may have physical or medical care, behavioral support, cognitive support, and independent living needs. Care is provided according to each individual’s specific needs and includes assistance and education with personal care, medication administration, and independent living skills. DSPs also help transport or accompany individuals to community activities and local or out-of-town appointments. Residential positions are available part-time across first, second, and third shifts, as well as backup/PRN fill-in positions across all three shifts. Listed part-time schedules include shifts on alternating weekends and a second-shift schedule of three days per week. Full- and part-time residential DSP positions start at $17.60 per hour; backup and PRN positions pay $17.00 per hour. Full-time employees, defined as scheduled for 30 or more hours per week, are offered a benefits package.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED from an accredited school.
Criminal record check.
Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
Basic computer skills for email, electronic training modules, and recording data.
Ability to lift 50 pounds.
Ability to perform occasional balancing, bending, stooping, and kneeling; the position requires being on one’s feet most of the time.
Prompt and regular attendance for the assigned work schedule.

Responsibilities

Provide support and care to individuals living in Skill Creations, Inc. facilities according to their specific needs.
Assist with and provide education about personal care, medication administration, and independent living skills.
Transport or accompany individuals to community activities and local or out-of-town appointments.
Complete required coursework for CPR/First Aid and Behavior Management.
Maintain prompt and regular attendance for assigned work schedules, including work during inclement weather and some holidays.
