OVERNIGHT Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Caregiver
About The Position
Dungarvin is hiring an overnight Direct Support Professional (DSP) caregiver to provide person-centered support to individuals with intellectual, developmental, mental, and physical disabilities, as well as complex medical needs. The role focuses on helping people live as independently and comfortably as possible while preserving their dignity and respect. The DSP provides direct assistance, positive direction, instruction, mentoring, and guidance. Support includes helping with mobility, getting in and out of bed, dressing, bathing, toileting, personal hygiene, housekeeping, and laundry. The position is an awake overnight schedule from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Paid training and hands-on experience are provided; no prior experience is needed.
Requirements
- At least 18 years old.
- Valid driver's license, due to transporting persons served.
- Successful background clearance as part of the onboarding and employment process.
- Reading, writing, and communication skills sufficient to document care, follow support plans, and collaborate with team members.
- Comfortable using technology for documentation.
- Patient, compassionate, dependable, adaptable, observant, detail-oriented, and a strong team player.
- Committed to helping others and motivated by growth.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct support, positive direction, instruction, encouragement, mentoring, and guidance to individuals served.
- Promote individuals’ comfort, safety, personal growth, dignity, and independence.
- Assist with daily living activities, including mobility, getting in and out of bed, dressing, bathing, toileting, and personal hygiene.
- Assist with housekeeping and laundry.
- Document care, follow support plans, and collaborate with internal and external team members.
- Transport individuals served when needed.
