About The Position

Wall Residences is seeking part-time, experienced Direct Support Professionals to provide community-based services in the Richmond, Virginia area to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The role focuses on building meaningful relationships and supporting individuals as they develop basic social skills, self-care, communication, and personal interests, and participate in their communities. DSPs accompany individuals on a variety of indoor and outdoor outings, including recreational activities, volunteering, music and art classes, and social events.

Paid training provided by Wall Residences may include First Aid and CPR, Crisis Management & Response Training (CMRT), medication administration, DSP training, and documentation training. Employees are mandated reporters of abuse and neglect for individuals with disabilities. Hiring is contingent on references and a criminal background check with no barrier crimes.

Requirements

• Experience as a Direct Support Professional.
• Detail-oriented, with the ability to keep accurate notes.
• Active driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• At least 3 years of driving experience.
• No more than 2 moving violations or accidents within the past 3 years.
• No major violations within the past 5 years.
• References and a criminal background check free of barrier crimes are required for hiring.

Responsibilities

• Support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in learning basic social skills, self-care, and communication.
• Help individuals explore their interests and integrate into the community.
• Accompany individuals on community outings, including recreational activities, volunteering, music and art classes, and social events.
• Keep accurate notes and documentation to support continuity of quality care.
• Report abuse and neglect as a mandated reporter.
