About The Position

All Ways Caring HomeCare is hiring a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide compassionate direct care to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a home-like setting. The role supports clients in their homes and communities while promoting dignity, privacy, independence, and positive relationships with their circle of support. The position includes personal care, health-related support, implementation of individual service and behavior support plans, documentation, and transportation to community activities and medical appointments. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age.
Pass a background check.
Have a driver’s license and valid auto insurance.
Have a high school diploma or GED.
Have a Direct Support Professional (DSP) certification; or provide a copy of a high school diploma/transcript or GED diploma and have at least six months of experience providing behavioral health-related services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, or documented experience providing specific supports to individuals with disabilities.

Responsibilities

Assist with personal hygiene and grooming, feeding, and ambulation.
Perform medical monitoring and health care-related tasks.
Foster positive relationships between individuals served and their circle of support.
Encourage self-help activities.
Implement Individual Service Plans and Behavior Support Plans.
Manage individuals’ behaviors through prevention or de-escalation of aggression.
Maintain accurate daily documentation of activities, fire and disaster drills, Behavior Support Plans, medications, goals, data tracking, and other required information.
Transport individuals to and from community activities and medical appointments.
Transport clients or run errands for clients.
Perform other duties as assigned.
