About The Position

Our In-Home Support Specialists are committed to facilitate, model, and build skills that will lead to the optimal independence of the people we support. This role involves assisting individuals with daily activities, personal care, community involvement, and supporting therapeutic plans. The ideal candidate demonstrates a positive work ethic, can work with limited supervision, and advocates for participants' rights with respect and dignity.

Requirements

Prior experience working with people who have developmental and physical disabilities preferred.
Ability to mentor and assist people in all areas of life skills including recreation, independence, communication, and health.
Valid driver’s license required.
High School Diploma or GED.
Basic computer aptitude.
Ability to speak/write in English.
Possess a valid driver’s license, privately owned vehicle, and evidence of insurance.

Responsibilities

Facilitate, model, and build skills for optimal independence.
Assist with daily activities such as meal preparation and planning.
Provide personal care.
Facilitate community involvement by accompanying individuals on outings.
Provide transportation to recreational and community activities.
Support therapeutic and behavioral plans.
Advocate for and protect participants’ rights.
Treat all individuals in an age-appropriate manner, with respect and dignity.
Encourage opportunities that promote choice.

Carry out all job responsibilities in a professional manner.
Attend all agency staff meetings and training sessions.
Maintain attendance and adhere to policies on attendance, days of absence, and illness.
Keep supervisor informed of any significant events or the need to modify any area of the operation/activity.
Serve as a positive and appropriate role model for program participants.
Provide advocacy for participants based on their personal choice and their individual plan.
Develop and maintain positive relationships with participants, their families, and providers.
Respond to the needs of participants, families, and providers in a timely and professional manner.
