About The Position

At Easterseals PORT Health (ESPH), the Direct Support Professional helps carry out the organization’s mission by supporting people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) with everyday living tasks and personal goals. Care is provided in the individual’s home and community. The role may include transporting clients to appointments and errands, organizing schedules, and documenting services in an electronic health record system.

The position is available part-time or full-time, Monday through Friday, with flexible hours based on client needs and employee availability. Work is located in East Bend or Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The posting lists a compensation range of $12.00–$18.00 per hour and also states a competitive salary of $15.00 hourly. Entry-level applicants receive on-the-job training, including training in CPR/first aid, Mindset, medication administration, infectious disease, and seizure management.

Requirements

• A high school diploma or GED is required.
• Basic knowledge of housekeeping, nutrition, and safety protocols.
• Interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and dependability.
• Proficiency with electronic health record systems or the technical ability to learn them.
• Reliable transportation and current auto insurance.
• Entry-level experience is accepted; on-the-job training is provided.

Responsibilities

• Provide care in the individual’s home and community.
• Assist with housekeeping, meal preparation, cooking, and cleaning.
• Support personal care, including bathing and dressing.
• Provide employment support.
• Transport clients to appointments and run errands as needed.
• Help plan and organize the individual’s schedule.
• Complete daily documentation and reporting in the electronic health system of record.
