The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides direct support, hands-on instruction, assistance, and positive direction to individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities in ways that support their health, safety, service objectives, and personal goals. During the scheduled work period, DSPs are paid for 16 hours per day, less unpaid break time; compensation is based on 105 hours every two weeks, including 25 hours paid at time and a half. Interrupted sleep time is also paid when applicable. A weekly food budget is provided during the week on, and DSPs receive one 7-hour break during the scheduled shift. All off time must be spent away from the location, and the individual's home cannot be the employee's primary residence. The role includes supporting residents' wellbeing and independence through personalized care, assistance with daily living, meal preparation, light housekeeping, laundry, mobility and transfers, and positive behavior support. The position offers a meaningful opportunity to support people with I/DD while gaining healthcare experience.
