The Direct Support Professional – Residential Extended Shift provides person-centered support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in residential and community settings. This position assists individuals in achieving their personal goals, developing daily living skills, participating in community activities, and maintaining their health and safety while promoting dignity, independence, choice, and meaningful relationships. The Residential Extended Shift model is designed to provide greater continuity of care by allowing employees to spend extended periods of time with the individuals they support. Longer shifts promote stronger relationships, improved consistency of services, and enhanced quality of life while supporting The Arc of Anchorage's mission and values. This position may work independently while maintaining close communication with the assigned supervisor and interdisciplinary team. The worksite may include private homes, homes owned by The Arc of Anchorage, agency facilities, schools, and community settings.
