Direct Support Professional II - Parttime
About The Position
The City of Virginia Beach is hiring a part-time Direct Support Professional II to provide compassionate, person-centered care to adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities in a residential setting. The role supports participants’ quality of life by implementing their Individual Support Plans (ISPs), helping with daily living needs, and promoting health, safety, and community participation. The position is scheduled for 30 hours per week: Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday from 3:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Employees must also be available to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime when required to meet operational needs. This is an Alpha I position, requiring employees to work during inclement weather regardless of the City’s operational status. The posting remains open until filled, with applications reviewed on an ongoing basis.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED and two years of experience working with intellectually disabled and/or developmentally disabled clients, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Current and valid driver’s license.
- Must be available to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime when required to meet operational needs.
- Must work during inclement weather regardless of the City’s operational status.
Responsibilities
- Implement Person-Centered Individual Support Plans (ISP).
- Assist with meal preparation, hygiene care, and activities of daily living.
- Complete required documentation and billing processes accurately and ethically.
- Ensure participants’ health, safety, and well-being according to their ISPs.
- Administer medications as prescribed and assist with medical appointments.
- Support participants in community integration opportunities and transport them as needed.
- Attend and participate in mandatory meetings, supervisions, and trainings.
- Uphold participant rights and confidentiality, and follow incident-reporting processes.
- Collaborate productively with internal and external stakeholders.
