Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center is hiring for a Full Time Emergency Department Registered Nurse! This is a Registered Nurse position in the Emergency Department, working full-time, day shifts from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. The role requires 28-hour call shifts per 6-week schedule and offers up to a $20,000 sign-on bonus for qualified candidates. The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for performing a competent level of nursing care using the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Professional performance standards encompass ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice, quality, resource utilization, and environmental health. The RN must possess clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards for specific clinical areas. BSN or MSN is preferred. Specific certifications are required within certain timeframes, such as ACLS within 1 year for Critical Care/IMCU, ACLS & PALS or ENPC within 1 year for Emergency Care, ONS/ONCC or Sentara approved course for Oncology Care within 6 months, NRP within 6 months for Perinatal departments, and PALS within 6 months for Inpatient Pediatrics. All Direct Care RNs are required to have BLS within 90 days of hire. The Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center’s Emergency Department is a 37-bed facility that handles a wide range of acute and emergent diagnoses. It is a Level III Trauma Center and a certified Primary Stroke Center, recognized with the Get With the Guidelines Gold Plus Award for Stroke Care. The department specializes in respiratory, cardiac, septic, and behavioral health, caring for patients of all ages. This is a high-acuity, fast-paced environment.
