Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center is hiring for a Full Time Emergency Department Registered Nurse! This is a Registered Nurse position in the Emergency Department, working full-time on the days shift from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. The role requires 28-hour call shifts per 6-week schedule and offers up to a $20,000 sign-on bonus for qualified candidates. The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for performing a competent level of nursing care using the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching, health promotion, and evaluation. The RN also adheres to standards of professional performance such as ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice/nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas. BSN or MSN is preferred. Specific certifications are required within certain timeframes depending on the specialty, including ACLS, PALS or ENPC, ONS/ONCC, Chemotherapy & Biotherapy Provider Card, NRP, and BLS. The Emergency Department is a 37-bed facility that handles a wide range of acute and emergent diagnoses, including Level III Trauma Center cases, stroke care (certified Primary Stroke Center with Gold Plus Award), respiratory, cardiac, septic, and behavioral health patients across all age groups. The environment is described as high-acuity and fast-paced.
