About The Position

Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center is hiring a Full-Time Emergency Department Registered Nurse for the Evenings shift. The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for performing a competent level of nursing care using the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching, health promotion, and evaluation. The RN must possess clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards required by specific clinical areas. The Emergency Department is a 37-bed facility that handles a wide range of acute and emergent diagnoses, including trauma, stroke, and various other conditions across all age groups. It is a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) License - Compact/Multi-State License OR Registered Nurse (RN) License - Single State – Virginia
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - Certification - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • 2 years of Emergency Department nursing experience (preferred)
  • ACLS within 1 year of hire
  • PALS or ENPC within 1 year of hire
  • ONS/ONCC or Sentara approved course Chemotherapy & Biotherapy Provider Card within 6 months of hire
  • NRP within 6 months of hire
  • PALS within 6 months of hire
  • BLS within 90 days of hire

Nice To Haves

  • BSN or MSN preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process.
  • Meet and maintain any requirements defined by specific specialty; Critical Care/IMCU ACLS within 1 year of hire; Emergency Care - ACLS & PALS or ENPC within 1 year of hire; Oncology Care ONS/ONCC or Sentara approved course Chemotherapy & Biotherapy Provider Card within 6 months of hire.
  • Women's Care - Perinatal departments; NRP within 6 months of hire.
  • Inpatient Pediatrics. PALS within 6 months of hire.
  • All Direct Care RN's required to have BLS within 90 days of hire.
