AlmaVia of San Rafael - Dining Room Server
About The Position
AlmaVia of San Rafael, part of the Elder Care Alliance family, is an assisted living and memory care community focused on person-centered care and enhancing residents’ quality of life. The Dining Room Server creates a warm, positive dining atmosphere by providing excellent customer service to residents. The role supports daily dining service and food preparation while following food service policies, infection control procedures, and food safety requirements. The posted schedule is 3:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.; other shifts may be offered. Pay is $17.50 to $22.95 per hour, with the actual rate based on factors including experience, skills, and training.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must possess effective English verbal and written communication skills.
- Must possess or obtain valid First Aid certification within 30 days of hire, as required by Title 22.
- Must obtain a valid California Food Handler Card or ServSafe equivalent within 30 days of hire and maintain compliance with food safety regulations.
Nice To Haves
- Previous server experience is highly preferred.
- Six months or more of experience in long-term care, home care, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience using POS (point-of-sale) transactional systems.
Responsibilities
- Create a warm, positive dining atmosphere through excellent customer service.
- Present menus, explain daily meal options, and offer suggestions as needed.
- Answer questions about menu items, including ingredients and preparation methods.
- Accurately record food orders and relay them to the kitchen.
- Deliver meals and beverages promptly while ensuring appropriate temperatures are maintained.
- Observe residents and respond to additional needs or requests.
- Assist residents with salad and breakfast bar selections and deliver trays as necessary.
- Clear, clean, and reset tables efficiently for upcoming meal services.
- Support daily dining room setup, including brewing coffee, portioning desserts, and preparing soup or salad bars.
- Follow established food service policies and infection control procedures.
- Maintain safe and sanitary work areas.

- Perform other duties as assigned.
