About The Position

AlmaVia of San Rafael, part of the Elder Care Alliance family, is an assisted living and memory care community providing person-centered care to older adults. Dining Room Servers help create a warm, positive dining atmosphere through attentive customer service, support residents during meals, and contribute to safe and sanitary food service operations. The position pays $17.50 to $22.95 per hour, with actual pay determined by experience, skills, and training. The listed work hours are 3:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.; other shifts may be offered.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Possess effective English verbal and written communication skills.
• Have experience using POS (point-of-sale) transactional systems.
• Possess or obtain a valid First Aid certification within 30 days of hire, as required by Title 22.
• Obtain a valid California Food Handler Card or ServSafe equivalent within 30 days of hire and maintain compliance with food safety regulations.

Nice To Haves

• Previous server experience is highly preferred.
• Six months or more of experience in long-term care, home care, or a related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create a warm, positive dining atmosphere through excellent customer service.
• Present menus to residents, explain daily meal options, and provide suggestions as needed.
• Answer questions about menu items, including ingredients and preparation methods.
• Record food orders accurately and relay them to the kitchen.
• Deliver meals and beverages promptly while ensuring appropriate temperatures are maintained.
• Observe residents to identify and fulfill additional needs or requests.
• Assist residents with salad and breakfast bar selections and deliver trays as necessary.
• Clear, clean, and reset tables efficiently for upcoming meal services.
• Support daily dining room setup, including brewing coffee, portioning desserts, and preparing soup or salad bars.
• Follow established food service policies and infection control procedures.
• Maintain safe and sanitary work areas at all times.
• Promote the Mission, Vision, and Values of Transforming Age and demonstrate commitment to the Culture of Excellence and strategic goals.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
