About The Position

The Dining Assistant/Waiter serves elders and guests, takes meal orders, and cleans tables after meals. The role prepares and serves meals for the dietary department in a safe and appetizing manner while complying with dietary standards, policies, and procedures. It also involves cleaning the kitchen, washing dishes, returning food to proper storage, and ensuring appropriate snacks are available to elders with special dietary needs. The Dining Assistant provides excellent service to internal and external customers and works collaboratively with the team.

Requirements

• Kindness and a desire to work with elderly people, and enjoyment of working with people generally.
• Willingness to learn and work within a team environment.
• Good verbal communication skills.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English with residents and coworkers who only speak English.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check.
• Ability to perform job responsibilities with or without accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Serve elders and guests and take meal orders.
• Clean tables after meals.
• Prepare and serve meals safely and appetizingly in compliance with dietary standards, policies, and procedures.
• Clean the kitchen and wash dishes.
• Return food to proper storage.
• Ensure appropriate snacks are available to elders with special dietary needs.
• Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
• Follow procedures for infection control, food-borne illness prevention, harmful chemical handling, fire safety, and sanitation.
• Work within a team environment.
