About The Position

The Dimensional Evaluator LPC LSBS 70 is responsible for identifying and correcting visual and dimensional flaws in castings to ensure the final product meets customer specifications. This role may also involve performing visual/dimensional inspection and straightening, along with associated tasks such as hardness testing, ultrasonic testing (UTT), targeting, and Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) evaluation, as defined by PCC Technique Cards, blueprints, and other documentation. The position emphasizes multi-skilled work to facilitate the flow of parts, with employees expected to spend approximately 20% of their time performing secondary functions in addition to their primary "core" function. For example, if the primary function is visual dimensional inspection, straightening must be performed at least 20% of the time, and vice versa.

Requirements

  • Current valid certification in visual/dimensional inspection and UTT inspection.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations as required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to read, follow and interpret blueprints is required.

  • Fixture some parts and leave others freestanding.
  • Visually inspect castings as required.
  • Dimensionally inspect castings for conformance to blueprint and Technique Card specifications using templates, micrometers, fixtures, gauges, calipers, ultrasound, boroscope, and other dimensional measuring devices.
  • Check casting hardness using Brinell, Rockwell, and other instruments.
  • Mark castings to identify areas needing rework, mill rates, etc., to meet dimensional and visual specifications.
  • Adjust fixtures, gauges, and precision measuring tools to calibrated standards.
  • Interpret CMM reports and perform other visual/dimensional functions as required to move parts through the production process.
  • Work from established rest points for targeting.
  • Straighten castings to meet dimensional tolerances and customer specifications.
  • Set up castings on surface plates or fixtures.
  • Evaluate the condition of parts using precision measuring tools or CMM reports to determine the most effective straightening method.
  • Establish datums to casting surfaces and fixtures on surface plates; straighten to a rotational tolerance.
  • Straighten casting to the required configuration using presses, straightening fixtures, profile templates, and power or manual tools.
