About The Position

The Dimensional Analyst serves as the engineering team's core technical resource for variation management and geometric control. This role is strictly focused on data interpretation and the establishment of robust Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) fundamentals during the design phase. The successful candidate will eliminate build risks by translating complex metrology data into actionable design solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or a robust related technical discipline through experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in automotive product engineering, dimensional control, or design verification.
  • Complete understanding of ASME Y14.5 standards.
  • Strong background in statistical methods, data visualization, and tolerance stack-up methodologies.
  • Experience utilizing CAD/PLM platforms to view and analyze models (NX, CATIA, etc).
  • Proficient in automotive root-cause methodologies (e.g., 8D, Fishbone, 5-Why).

Nice To Haves

  • GD&T certification is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the dimensional lab in creating dimensional reports using various dimensional reporting software(s).
  • Define, review, and approve geometric dimensioning and tolerancing schemes on automotive engineering drawings to ensure strict compliance with ASME Y14.5 standards.
  • Create metrology reports, review, interpret, and synthesize measurement data from 3D scanners and CMMs to identify part-to-CAD deviations.
  • Partner with Product Design Engineers early in the development cycle to establish critical datums, mating features, and optimized tolerance budgets.
  • Conduct 1D and 2D tolerance stack-up simulations to predict vehicle assembly variations, flushness risks, and gap conditions.
  • Convert complex point-cloud data and color deviation maps into clear engineering recommendations for root-cause problem-solving.
  • Act as the internal subject matter expert (SME) to educate design engineers, manufacturing teams, and suppliers on proper GD&T interpretation and feasibility.
  • Review statistical process control (SPC) data from pre-production builds to validate process capability and print feasibility.
