About The Position

ICF is seeking a Digital Twin Lead to guide the technical strategy, development, and integration of digital twin solutions across government, commercial, and non-profit sectors. The role combines technical leadership with hands-on delivery, helping clients translate operational, planning, and asset-management needs into practical solutions that connect BIM, GIS, asset information, and enterprise systems. The position is open to 100% remote work anywhere in the United States and may require travel up to 10% to meet with clients and stakeholders for project and program support. The Digital Twin Lead defines technical direction, guides solution development and integration, and identifies opportunities for innovation. The role includes evaluating artificial intelligence and other emerging techniques for future digital twin capabilities, while ensuring practical value, data quality, interoperability, scalability, and maintainability. The lead also provides technical expertise, coordinates technical work, reviews deliverables, documents methods and decisions, contributes approaches to proposals, and supports training and mentoring.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in AutoCAD and hands-on BIM modeling expertise, including Revit.
  • Coding and scripting experience, including Python, and experience developing automated workflows and API-based data or application integrations.
  • Experience developing or integrating digital twin solutions or BIM/GIS/asset-data environments, including configuring, testing, and troubleshooting technology applications.
  • Experience translating client or operational needs into technical requirements, evaluating technology options, and guiding implementation decisions.
  • Experience independently resolving complex technical problems, reviewing technical deliverables, and conducting model and data quality assurance.
  • Experience providing technical guidance, coordinating assigned work, and communicating technical requirements and recommendations to clients and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and permanent resident per federal contract requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s or PhD in a relevant technical discipline.
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish is highly preferred.
  • Experience developing digital twin strategies, implementation roadmaps, or pilot projects that demonstrate value and inform broader adoption.
  • Ability to work independently while effectively communicating technical and business requirements to technical and non-technical users.
  • Experience with LiDAR, point-cloud processing, scan-to-BIM, and BIM-to-GIS integration, including ArcGIS and IFC/COBie interoperability.
  • Experience with Dynamo, Revit API, Safe FME, SQL, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Autodesk Tandem, or Bentley iTwin.
  • Experience with cloud-hosted solutions, sensor-data or asset-management integration, and infrastructure, resilience, or government projects.
  • Experience providing technical leadership, coordinating staff assignments, and mentoring team members to support program delivery, with supervisory responsibilities as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Work with clients and project leadership to define digital twin objectives, prioritize use cases, and develop implementation roadmaps considering data readiness, integration needs, cost, and long-term maintenance.
  • Lead technical delivery of digital twin solutions by coordinating BIM, GIS, and asset-data management and integration; establish quality standards and review deliverables for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with client requirements.
  • Define technical approaches for connecting digital models with enterprise GIS, databases, asset-management systems, and operational data sources, addressing interoperability, scalability, and information maintenance.
  • Support, develop, update, and review AutoCAD drawings and BIM models using Revit; ensure model geometry, asset attributes, and required levels of development and information are accurate and complete for intended use.
  • Use coding, scripts, APIs, and automation to process models, transform and validate data, and connect BIM/CAD models with GIS, databases, asset information, and technology applications.
  • Evaluate and pilot innovative techniques, including AI and machine learning, for model development, data integration, quality review, and predictive analysis; assess accuracy, data needs, security, cost, and practical value, and recommend future uses.
  • Translate client needs into technical requirements; guide technology selection and integration decisions; configure, test, and troubleshoot technology applications and resolve interoperability and data-quality issues.
  • Provide subject matter expertise, coordinate assigned technical work, review deliverables, and document workflows, methods, quality criteria, and technical decisions.
  • Contribute reusable methods and technical approaches to proposals and new digital twin opportunities.
  • Support internal and external training and capacity-building efforts, mentor technical staff, demonstrate digital twin applications, and help develop and deliver training materials.
  • Explain technical options and tradeoffs to help clients make informed decisions.
  • Provide technical leadership, coordinate staff assignments, and mentor team members to support program delivery, with supervisory responsibilities as assigned.
  • Travel up to 10% to meet with clients and stakeholders as needed for project and program support.
