About The Position

ICF is seeking a Digital Twin Lead to guide the technical strategy, development, and integration of digital twin solutions for government, commercial, and nonprofit clients. The role combines technical leadership with hands-on delivery, translating operational, planning, and asset-management needs into solutions that connect BIM, GIS, asset information, and enterprise systems. The Lead establishes technical direction, identifies opportunities for innovation, and evaluates how artificial intelligence and other emerging techniques could improve digital twin capabilities. The position is remote anywhere in the United States, with travel up to 10% to meet clients and stakeholders as needed. The Digital Twin Lead works with clients and project leadership to define objectives, prioritize use cases, and develop implementation roadmaps. The role leads technical delivery, integration, quality assurance, and technical decision-making; supports AutoCAD drawings and Revit BIM models; and uses code, scripts, APIs, and automation to process models and connect data and applications. It also evaluates and pilots emerging methods, including AI and machine learning, and helps clients assess technical options and tradeoffs. The role provides subject matter expertise, coordinates technical work, reviews deliverables, documents workflows and quality criteria, and contributes reusable methods to proposals and future opportunities. It also supports training and capacity building, including mentoring technical staff and helping develop and deliver training materials. The position requires a bachelor's degree and at least five years of relevant professional experience, U.S. work authorization, and the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust. The job is not eligible for new H-1B visa sponsorship.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in AutoCAD and hands-on BIM modeling expertise, including Revit.
  • Coding and scripting experience, including Python, and experience developing automated workflows and API-based data or application integrations.
  • Experience developing or integrating digital twin solutions or BIM/GIS/asset-data environments, including configuring, testing, and troubleshooting technology applications.
  • Experience translating client or operational needs into technical requirements, evaluating technology options, and guiding implementation decisions.
  • Experience independently resolving complex technical problems, reviewing technical deliverables, and conducting model and data quality assurance.
  • Experience providing technical guidance, coordinating assigned work, and communicating technical requirements and recommendations to clients and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, per federal contract requirements.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's or PhD in a relevant technical discipline.
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish is highly preferred.
  • Experience developing digital twin strategies, implementation roadmaps, or pilot projects that demonstrate value and inform broader adoption.
  • Ability to work independently while effectively communicating technical and business requirements to technical and non-technical users.
  • Experience with LiDAR, point-cloud processing, scan-to-BIM, and BIM-to-GIS integration, including ArcGIS and IFC/COBie interoperability.
  • Experience with Dynamo, Revit API, Safe FME, SQL, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Autodesk Tandem, or Bentley iTwin.
  • Experience with cloud-hosted solutions, sensor-data or asset-management integration, and infrastructure, resilience, or government projects.
  • Ability to provide technical leadership, coordinate staff assignments, and mentor team members to support program delivery, with supervisory responsibilities as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Work with clients and project leadership to define digital twin objectives, prioritize use cases, and create implementation roadmaps that account for data readiness, integration needs, cost, and long-term maintenance.
  • Lead technical delivery of digital twin solutions, coordinating BIM models, GIS, and asset data; establish quality standards and review deliverables for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with client requirements.
  • Define approaches for connecting digital models with enterprise GIS, databases, asset-management systems, and operational data sources, addressing interoperability, scalability, and information maintenance.
  • Support, develop, update, and review AutoCAD drawings and Revit BIM models, ensuring geometry, asset attributes, and required levels of development and information are accurate and complete.
  • Use coding, scripts, APIs, and automation to process models, transform and validate data, and connect BIM/CAD models with GIS, databases, asset information, and technology applications.
  • Evaluate and pilot innovative techniques, including AI and machine learning, for model development, data integration, quality review, and predictive analysis; assess accuracy, data needs, security, cost, and practical value, and recommend future applications.
  • Translate client needs into technical requirements; guide technology selection and integration; configure, test, and troubleshoot technology applications; and resolve interoperability and data-quality issues.
  • Provide subject matter expertise, coordinate assigned technical work, review deliverables, and document workflows, methods, quality criteria, and technical decisions.
  • Contribute reusable methods and technical approaches to proposals and new digital twin opportunities.
  • Support internal and external training and capacity-building efforts, including mentoring technical staff, demonstrating digital twin applications, and helping develop and deliver training materials.
  • Explain technical options and tradeoffs to help clients make informed decisions.
  • Travel up to 10% to meet clients and stakeholders as needed for project and program support.
