About The Position

The Seasonal Digital Navigator is a grant-funded, summer position focused on providing one-on-one digital help desk support to community members at designated City of Amarillo and community partner locations. This role plays a key part in addressing digital access by giving residents a consistent, in-person resource for technology assistance, whether that's setting up an email account, troubleshooting a phone, or building confidence with a personal device. Navigators work directly with the public on a walk-in basis and meet people wherever they are in their tech journey. Digital Navigators are trained and supervised by the Digital Outreach team.

Requirements

  • No formal education is required.
  • Candidates should have basic technology experience and be comfortable working directly with the public and supporting individuals with varying skill levels.
  • Strong communication skills, patience, and a customer-centric approach are required.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of common consumer technology, including smartphones, tablets, laptops, web browsers, email, and basic productivity and internet software.
  • Ability to read and follow written procedures and training materials.
  • Ability to clearly document interactions and complete simple written reports.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technology concepts in plain language to community members of all backgrounds and skill levels.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one help desk assistance to community members during scheduled shifts at community locations.
  • Help individuals access and navigate online resources for education, employment, healthcare, government services, and other essential needs.
  • Assist with basic use of personal digital devices, common software applications, and internet tools.
  • Support community members at varying skill levels with patience, empathy, and a customer-service mindset.
  • Log all interactions and assistance provided in the designated tracking system to support grant reporting and program evaluation.
  • Maintain resident privacy and avoid collecting, storing, or sharing personal login information or sensitive information.
  • Participate in onboarding, training, and check-ins as scheduled.
  • Other duties as assigned.
