About The Position

The Digital Navigator works closely with the Director of Community Programs on all aspects of AgeSpan's digital equity initiative. The Navigator supports older adults and people with disabilities in the communities of the Merrimack Valley and North Shore by helping them learn to use technology to access health and wellness programs, telehealth appointments and social connections. The Navigator provides one-on-one training and small group instruction on technology basics, distributes devices, and provides technology training aids and data plans for eligible individuals. The Navigator also supports other AgeSpan outreach initiatives, including monthly food distribution programs, community education, and health promotion programs. Essential Functions: (Core duties or tasks that are fundamental and not marginal to the performance of the job) Serve as key resource in the community for older adults and people with disabilities interested in learning to use technology and accessing additional supports and services, including configuring devices, distributing devices, and planning and leading training. Act as a liaison with community partners to advance the agency's goals of improving access to digital information and opportunities. Provide technology training and support to older adults and adults with disabilities, one-on-one or in group settings, including: teaching technology basics (powering devices on/off, accessing the internet, navigating common applications such as Zoom and email); providing more advanced training (e.g. accessing patient portals and other health-related platforms); developing and distributing technology aids and reference materials; offering in-person and telephone support to troubleshoot issues. Work closely with AgeSpan Resident Service Coordinators to plan and coordinate digital access presentations and trainings at housing sites; hold office hours at housing sites to provide onsite technology support as needed. Assist with agency outreach projects as needed, including staffing food distribution programs (unloading boxes and filling individual grocery bags) and community markets, representing AgeSpan at health fairs and other community events. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associates degree, 1-2 years related work experience preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills and comfort navigating various types of hardware (particularly tablets) and software, including fluency in computer terminology and troubleshooting techniques; accessing and troubleshooting networks, Bluetooth, routers, Wi-Fi; setting up email accounts, including navigation through application purchase download, account setup, and installation.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Extensive outreach experience; excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in team and group settings.
  • Flexible and able to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Enthusiastic about working in a social services agency focused on improving the lives of older adults and adults with disabilities.
  • Willingness to learn new skills as needed for position.
  • Ability to lift 30lbs repetitively (required for food distribution programs).
  • Willingness to travel throughout agency service area.
  • Valid driver's license and personal reliable transportation a must.
