About The Position

This paid internship is for a four-month period, 20 hours a week, during September–December (Fall). The position is located at the Church Office Building in Salt Lake City, UT, and interns must be able to come into the office on a regular basis. The internship involves designing content for youth that inspires, delights, and teaches, with the goal of pointing people towards Christ. It is ideal for those who enjoy the pace of social media and other digital content.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled as a full-time student in an accredited college or university or have finished a degree within a year of starting the internship.
  • Sound understanding of Church doctrine and a love of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
  • At least one year of college-level graphic design experience.
  • The ability to think creatively.
  • The ability to manage many projects and multiple deadlines simultaneously.
  • Careful attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Professionalism and the ability to work well with a variety of people.
  • A cover letter.
  • A resume that includes a link to your digital portfolio.
  • Digital portfolios should feature samples that exhibit excellence in creative digital design and communication.
  • Demonstrate skills in graphic design, photoshop, and branding, digital media, animation, and video content creation.
  • Create a photorealistic or mix-media album cover for the song “Fear Not” - Strive to Be.
  • Along with the design, submit a short paragraph explaining your creative process and design choices.

Nice To Haves

  • A background or interest in graphic design, illustration, advertising, music, or social media marketing is recommended.
  • Studying communications, advertising, design, social media marketing, or other related fields.

Responsibilities

  • Planning and designing visuals for the For the Strength of Youth Instagram, Facebook, and the Strive to Be YouTube channels.
  • Contributing ideas and concepts for the branding of various youth channels, ensuring consistency and creativity in all visual elements.
  • Keeping up to date with design trends that appeal to the 11-18 age range, particularly in music and other youth-focused products.
  • Designing and publishing content in a creative and fast-paced work environment.
  • Primarily helping with the branding of various Church’s digital channels for youth.
  • Creating engaging designs with out-of-the-box thinking.
  • Creating album covers, thumbnails, banners, social media graphics, photoshopping images, layout design and other graphic design tasks as needed.
