About The Position

This paid internship offers hands-on experience across multiple HR functions, including payroll, benefits administration, employee relations, and HR operations. The intern will work closely with a collaborative HR team of four and receive direct mentorship from experienced HR professionals. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in pursuing a career in Human Resources. The HR Intern will support day-to-day HR operations and assist team members with internal HR audits, HR administration & operations, recruitment & talent support, employee engagement & HR projects, and other duties as assigned. Learning opportunities include exposure to full-cycle HR operations in a healthcare setting, shadowing experienced HR professionals, hands-on experience with HRIS systems and compliance practices, understanding of California employment laws and HR best practices, and collaboration with experienced HR professionals.

Requirements

  • Completed high school education
  • Recent entry level HR experience, coursework or currently pursuing a higher degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Desire to work in a team-oriented workplace and collaborate with all HR team members and other internal staff
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future visa sponsorship requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct internal HR audits of I-9 forms, personnel files, EEO documentation, and other employee records to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company policies and federal/state regulations.
  • Maintain and update employee records in HRIS systems.
  • Assist with onboarding and offboarding processes (new hire paperwork, orientations, exit documentation).
  • Participate in onboarding presentations with HR Team.
  • Help prepare employee files to ensure compliance with California labor laws and internal policies.
  • Support document management and audit readiness.
  • Support employee recognition initiatives.
  • Assist HR coordinator with recruiting coordination and interview scheduling.
  • Support recruitment tracking.
  • Assist with job posting management and applicant tracking system updates.
  • Assist in planning employee engagement activities and internal company events.
  • Support HR initiatives such as training coordination and compliance tracking.
  • Contribute to special HR projects (policy updates, process improvements, surveys, etc.).
