In accordance with the National Scope and Standards of Diabetes Educators, as well as the National Standards for Diabetes Education and Support, the Dietitian assesses the needs of patients and designs, implements, and evaluates a teaching plan. The dietitian provides individual nutritional counseling in the following areas: diabetes, weight management, bariatric, hyperlipidemia, cardiac, nutrition support, hypoglycemia, general nutrition wellness, pregnancy, gestational diabetes, G.I. related disease problems, pulmonary nutrition, and more. The Dietitian is also responsible for facilitating and assisting in the development of programs for group sessions, seminars, cooking demonstrations, supermarket tours, and lectures for the local businesses/community. Interacts with an interdisciplinary team of health professionals. Promotes positive behavior change with client population using motivational interviewing techniques, goal setting and effective client communication and support. Evaluate and assist clients with barriers to change.
