About The Position

As a Certified Diabetes Educator, you will provide nutrition and diabetes education to patients of all ages and their families. You will create care plans and implement education programs related to diabetes, and other nutritional disorders. You will work with educators to ensure seamless, holistic care for patients and participate in quality improvement initiatives. The educator participates in staff orientation and curriculum planning for diabetes and nutrition education services.

Requirements

Currently registered and licensed Dietitian
Must be able to understand directions, communicate and respond to inquiries; requires effective interpersonal skills.
Must be able to input and retrieve information from computer.
Knowledge of diabetes, diabetes in pregnancy, treatment, teaching techniques and adult learning, depending on location of work.
Good interpersonal relationships with patients and families.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor of Science in a clinical discipline
Experience in diabetes education and educating patients about diabetes management and using the diabetes management.

Responsibilities

Provide nutrition and diabetes education to patients of all ages and their families.
Create care plans and implement education programs related to diabetes and other nutritional disorders.
Work with educators to ensure seamless, holistic care for patients.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
Participate in staff orientation and curriculum planning for diabetes and nutrition education services.
Completes training and certifications required to provide education on current treatment options and technologies; including, but not limited to insulin infusion pumps, continuous glucose monitors and professional blood glucose monitors.
Maintains competency to perform appropriate point-of-care testing, per policy.
