Dietetic Technician
About The Position
The Parker Jewish Institute for Health Care and Rehabilitation is seeking per-diem Dietetic Technicians to work in its skilled nursing facility in New Hyde Park, New York. The position provides nutrition services that support residents’ health and well-being. Dietetic Technicians work collaboratively with dietary and food and nutrition services staff and the interdisciplinary care team to assist in providing care to patients and residents. Candidates should be available for weekend shifts from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Parker is a nonprofit health care facility offering sub-acute and short-term rehabilitation, long-term care, nursing home care, certified home health care, and community hospice services. Requirements
- Associate’s degree in Food and Nutrition.
- Friendly and sociable demeanor.
- Good verbal and written interpersonal skills, including the ability to provide comfort to patients.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and demonstrate care, compassion, and teamwork.
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience in a long-term care environment is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Receive and verify diet orders and maintain their accuracy.
- Provide menus to new admissions.
- Retrieve communication sheets.
- Modify resident and patient menus to meet therapeutic needs.
- Assist residents and patients with menus as needed.
- Enter menus into Geri Menu, the nutrition computer program.
- Post weekly menus on units.
- Print and separate daily meal tickets.
