About The Position

Moorings Park is seeking a dedicated Dietetic Technician to join our team. The Dietetic Technician supports the Registered Dietitian in providing quality nutritional care to residents in a skilled nursing facility. Under the supervision of the Registered Dietitian, the Diet Technician assists with nutrition screenings, resident assessments, meal service monitoring, diet education, documentation, and regulatory compliance. This position works collaboratively with nursing, food service, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure residents receive safe, appropriate, and individualized nutrition care that meets physician orders, facility policies, and federal and state regulations.

Requirements

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in the English language required.
  • Associate degree in Dietetic Technology, Nutrition, Food and Nutrition, or a closely related field required.
  • Registered Dietetic Technician, Registered (DTR) credential through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) required.
  • Food Handler Certification or ServSafe® Food Handler certification required
  • Current CPR certification (required)

Nice To Haves

  • During emergencies or natural disasters, may be required to remain on duty for the duration of the event.
  • One (1) year of experience in healthcare, long-term care, skilled nursing, hospital food service, or clinical nutrition preferred.
  • Experience working with elderly or medically complex populations is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Registered Dietitian with nutrition screenings, assessments, and resident follow-up.
  • Monitors residents' food and fluid intake, weight changes, and report nutrition concerns to the Registered Dietitian.
  • Documents nutrition-related information accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Maintains current diet orders, food preferences, allergies, and diet rosters.
  • Conducts meal rounds to ensure residents receive the correct diet and monitor meal acceptance.
  • Provides basic nutrition education to residents, families, and staff under the direction of the Registered Dietitian.
  • Communicates with nursing, dietary staff, and other members of the interdisciplinary team regarding residents' nutritional needs.
  • Assists with care planning, quality improvement activities, and regulatory compliance related to nutrition services.
  • Helps ensure compliance with food safety, infection control, CMS, state regulations, and facility policies.
