Requirements
- Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) credential through the Academy of Nutrition and Foodservice Professionals required
- Active ServSafe Manager certification or equivalent food safety certification required
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Knowledge of federal regulations for skilled nursing or post-acute care settings
- Ability to lift, push, or pull 50-100 lbs. and handle equipment or supplies
- Ability to stand or walk for extended periods
- Full range of motion to perform job-related tasks
- Ability to work in environments with exposure to body fluids and communicable diseases
- Adequate vision and hearing (with or without assistive devices) and ability to meet facility health requirements
Nice To Haves
- Two years of experience in a geriatric or long-term care setting preferred
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily food service operations, including preparation, purchasing, budgeting, storage, and inventory rotation
- Recruit, hire, and train dietary staff; provide coaching, performance feedback, and corrective action as needed
- Create and maintain staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage
- Manage staffing levels to align with department PPD targets
- Ensure meals are prepared to meet residents' dietary needs, preferences, and prescribed diets
- Monitor food quality, presentation, and portioning standards
- Verify proper food temperatures and ensure compliance with safety procedures
- Assist with meal service and cover cook or dietary aide shifts as needed
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support department operations
