About The Position

The Dietary Cook assists with preparing and distributing food to patients and staff at Johnson County Hospital. The role supports nutritional standards and dietary requirements established by healthcare professionals by ensuring meals are prepared correctly and served on time, contributing to patient recovery and overall health. The position is based at Johnson County Hospital in Tecumseh, Nebraska, within the Dietary Department, and reports to the Dietary Manager. It is full-time, with rotating weekends and holidays required.

Requirements

Previous experience in a healthcare or food service setting.
Knowledge of dietary restrictions and special dietary needs.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Comfort working with patients of all ages and health conditions.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to accurately follow written and verbal instructions.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
Good hygiene and grooming standards.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

Prepare and serve meals according to specified dietary requirements.
Assist with setting up and cleaning dining areas.
Monitor and report changes in dietary needs or preferences to the supervisor.
Store and handle food properly to maintain safety and sanitation standards.
Assist with inventory management, including stocking food supplies and pantry items.
Collaborate with kitchen staff and healthcare providers to deliver consistent, high-quality service.
Follow health and safety regulations while performing tasks.
Provide nutritional support and information to patients and their families when necessary.
Assist in training new Dietary Aides or kitchen staff as needed.
Perform other duties deemed necessary by the supervisor or CEO.
