About The Position

This position is responsible for the operation of food service equipment and maintaining food sanitation standards. The Dietary Aide will deliver food carts to patient floors, return carts to the dish room, and wash items like pots and pans. They will also operate the dish machine, maintain cleanliness of their work area, and participate in the tray line assembly process. Responsibilities include keeping floors clean, assisting with overall kitchen cleanliness, proper lifting techniques, and adhering to kitchen safety knowledge.

Requirements

Ability to read, write and communicate in English/Spanish languages.
Must demonstrate commitment and adherence to STHS’s Compliance Program and Code of Conduct.
Certified by the City of McAllen or Edinburg (depending on facility employed) or accredited by the State of Texas and ANSI—the American National Standard Institute as a food handler upon hire or within 14 days of employment.
High School diploma, GED, or Higher Education preferred.

Responsibilities

Familiar with the operation of food service equipment.
Working knowledge of food sanitation and acceptable techniques in handling and service of food.
Delivers food carts to patient floors in specified order.
Returns carts to dish room at designated times.
Washes certain items by hand, such as pots and pans.
Operates dish machine.
Consistently shows concern for cleanliness of work area.
Has responsibilities during tray line assembly process.
Helps maintain floors clean.
Assists with overall kitchen cleanliness.
Knows how to lift properly and how to avoid careless kitchen related accidents.
Has common kitchen safety knowledge.
